I awoke to the sound of barking dogs. The bedside alarm clock reported 4:38 a.m. and my grogginess soon turned to irritation.
Although in a fog, my mind didn’t hesitate to start thinking about my marriage and how infidelity was destroying my emotional stability.
How is it that although the mind is only half-awake, it can so quickly start churning out negative thoughts?
The hounds of hell start howling in the mind before a person’s eyelids are even open.
If you think trying to cope with infidelity is driving you crazy, you are not alone.
Just like a barking dog shattering the silence of early morning calm, the devil will shout desperation into your thoughts faster than the speed of sound.
Here are three of his evil lies that you should muzzle before the commotion destroys your peace of mind.
- You are not good enough
- Your cheating spouse will never change
- You must face this all alone
Now, here are three truths that can silence those lies.
1. Your mate’s rejection of you through infidelity does not define your real worth. Your value comes from the One who created you. Do not believe there is something you must do to be a better spouse. Your husband’s infidelity can be blamed only upon his deceived heart.
Your husband’s fulfillment is not dependent upon you. Your job is to live your life according to God’s will and by the power of His grace; nothing more.
This is possible because you are more than good enough. You are divinely anointed.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.
2. It does not matter how long your husband has been cheating or what got him started. It doesn’t matter how far from God he has wandered.
It is God’s will and desire to free your husband from the bondage that destroys him.
Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.
I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.
I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over
ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.
Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him,
since He always lives to make intercession for them.
The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.
3. The child of God is never left alone, NEVER!
For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you. So we may boldly say:
“The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”
Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?
If I ascend into heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.
If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
Even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me.
If I say, “Surely the darkness shall fall on me,” even the night shall be light about me;
Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You, but the night shines as the day;
The darkness and the light are both alike to You.
The Lord is your keeper;
The Lord is your shade at your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day,
Nor the moon by night.
The Lord shall preserve you from all evil;
He shall preserve your soul.
The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in
From this time forth, and even forevermore.
When you meditate on truth, you can hush the noisy roar of those barking hounds and send them back to hell with their tails between their legs.
Be still, and know that I am God.
O Hades, where is your victory?” But thanks be to God,
who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
